Dave Hughes has been named the Main Street Program Coordinator for the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce.  This announcement comes following the recent transition of the Main Street Program from the City of Douglas.  During the transfer of responsibilities, Mr. Hughes will continue to collaborate with Ms. Georgia Henderson to provide continuity of services for Main Street Program activities.

John Henry, President of Douglas-Coffee County EDA/Chamber stated, “Dave has been very instrumental in coordinating the Downtown Merchants’ Association and brings extensive retail experience to our team. I have faith that Mr. Hughes will be a diligent and passionate advocate for our downtown as we transition into this new role for the Chamber of Commerce.  This position not only encompasses the downtown historic district but also includes recruitment for high-demand retail opportunities and other community revitalization programs.”

Mr. Hughes has over 40 years of experience in retail business management and local, regional and national sales.  After retiring from Kmart Corp, he served as national accounts manager for MarCraft, Inc. and regional sales manager for US Marble & Granite.  He and his wife, Shelia Hughes, own Kribs and Kradles and Top It Off Gourmet, both located on Peterson Avenue in downtown Douglas.  Mr. Hughes is a graduate of LaSalle Senior High School in Niagara Falls, NY and served in US Army Reserve and National Guard for six years.  He and his wife have one daughter, a son-in-law, and one granddaughter.
