We want to congratulate Amelia Crockett, Muskan Minhas, Glenn O’Steen, and Justin Strickland for all receiving a blue ribbon, and Jeremiah Brantley, Dawson Miller, and Ishika Sadarangani for all receiving a red ribbon with their 4-H mini-booths in the Okefenokee Agricultural Fair in Waycross during the week of November 12-16. Jeremiah Brantley’s booth was on Real Estate Agents, Amelia Crocket’s booth was on Hearing Aids, Dawson Miller’s booth was on World War II planes, Muskan Minhas’ booth was on diabetes, Glenn O’Steen’s booth was on train locomotives, Ishika Sadarangani’s booth was on eating healthy, and Justin Strickland’s booth was on video games.
We also had a few craft entries in the fair. Taleea Adams entered a piece of “Seed Art” and won a blue ribbon, and a cotton ball lamb that received a red ribbon. Kaitlin Britt entered a crocheted pillow made and stuffed with plastic grocery bags and received a white ribbon. Jake Grantham made a pink pig out of a helium tank and won a blue ribbon with his entry. Glenn O’Steen entered a computer graphic design of a 4-H t-shirt design and received a white ribbon.

K-Bears Project
We want to thank our 4-H members and parents who supported the Douglas Kiwanis Club’s K-Bears project of getting stuffed animals for foster kids. We had a good number of items donated for the project. These stuffed animals were collected to give every foster child in Coffee and Atkinson County one for the holidays.
Fall Forum
The Georgia 4-H Board of Directors are planning a fun-filled weekend for Fall Forum, “#trending with Georgia 4-H”. The weekend (December 14-15) includes a mix of workshops and educational sessions along with opportunities for community service and exhibits. Registration for Fall Forum is open to any current 9th-12th grade 4-H members in the 2019-2020 school term. This event provides many opportunities for project work, competition, networking, and training for youth and adults.
The late registration fee is now $100. The registration fee covers Saturday lunch, dinner, and lodging, as well as Sunday breakfast. Pizzas can be ordered Saturday morning or at lunch and are $12 each.
There will be a Fall Forum 4K race on Sunday morning. There is usually an additional registration fee for the race around $12-$15 which includes a Clover Glove race t-shirt.
4-H members can apply to lead a community service project at Fall Forum. The application information is available from the 4-H office. This online application deadline is 5 PM on Wednesday, November 20. Students may also apply to enter an exhibit in the Exhibit Fair. This would be a great way to add to your DPA portfolio’s “Helping and Sharing” section. Online applications for the exhibit fair are due by 5 PM on Wednesday, December 4.
You are also asked to contribute canned foods to the “4-H Cans Hunger” service project. Be sure to turn in your canned foods to the 4-H office before December 1.

Junior/Senior 4-H Project Achievement
Junior/Senior 4-H members need to be working on completing their DPA presentation as well as their portfolios. Portfolio FINAL COPIES are due in the county 4-H office by Friday, December 20. Your presentation needs to be ready now so you will have time to practice it before the competition. We want each of you to have a competitive portfolio and demonstration so you have a good chance of standing on the stage receiving a first place award.
Call or come by the 4-H office today to sign up for a project (first come, first choice). 4-H staff members will be happy to help you get started and answer any questions you have as you work on your presentation.
