South Georgia State College and the University System of Georgia’s 26 institutions will continue to deliver instruction remotely during summer semester, with only limited exceptions.

USG institutions are tentatively planning to return to normal on-campus operations for the fall semester should guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Georgia Department of Public Health allow it.

In the interim, all institutions have been asked to continue their current telework and flexible work strategies for faculty and staff. SGSC will remain open with minimal staff physically on-campus to ensure continuity of certain services for students. Campus facilities are currently closed to the general public.

SGSC’s academic advising for fall semester will be available before fall registration opens Tuesday, April 7. Advisors are reaching out to students to make appointments via phone and/or Skype. Students will book appointments as normal, and their advisor will call them.

Academic support services will continue to be available to SGSC students. Tutoring services will be obtainable 24/7 through tutor.com which should be accessed through a student’s Georgia View. For more information, go to http://www.sgsc.edu/current-students/academicsupport.cms.

The USG is providing resources for remote success for students including guidance on online courses and internet connect availability, instructional videos for accessing learning management system courses and answers for questions about student disabilities and online coursework. The resources can be found at the USG Keep Learning website at https://www.usg.edu/keep_learning_usg/more_resources.

SGSC continues to prioritize the safety of its students, faculty and staff as the institution does its part to help stem the spread of the coronavirus in Georgia and fulfill the mission to graduate its students in these challenging times.
