Maxine grew up in Pearson, Georgia where she formed many long-time loving friends. Her love of children extended beyond her special love and bond with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren where she enjoyed and flourished in her position as a teacher’s aide with the Duval County School System. Maxine also worked for Baptist Medical Center as a Unit Secretary where her friendly and outgoing personality made all that came in contact with her feel welcomed. Maxine loved her Highlands Baptist Church family where she began attending services many years ago.

Maxine is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James L. (J.L.) Wall, Jr.; parents, Ira Coleman Wall and Birta Keaton Wall; siblings, Madrie Wall Selph, Truman Wall, Bernard Wall, Lutra Wall, Mary Ann Wall Ledford, and Laura Wall Connolly. She is survived by sister, Amanda Mizell (Nick), St. Mary’s Georgia; daughter, Cheryl Wall Dean, St. John’s, Florida; son, James L. (Jimmy) Wall, III (Deon), St. John’s, Florida; Grandchildren, Chris Dean (Pam) Acworth, Georgia, Cherilyn Dean Austad (John) St. John’s, Florida, James L. (Jay) Wall, IV , St. John’s, Florida, Jeffrey Ferrell M. D., San Francisco, California, Julia Ferrell Jacksonville, Florida and Great-Grandchildren, Kelsey Dean, Hunter Dean, Cale Ivey, Shelby Austad, Blake Dean, Sheridan Austad, Madison Austad, Alaina Austad, Jarrod Scott and Justin Scott.

Maxine’s unconditional love and sacrifice for her family and friends was always expressed through various ways – feeding people some of her delicious country home cooking and always with that beautiful smile. Her cole slaw has always been a family favorite and she was well known as the Queen of the cream cheese pound cake. Maxine enjoyed holidays and entertaining family but her most special times were when she was able to spend time playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. No one ever loved and cherished their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than Maxine and the love they have for her was returned ten-fold because of her selflessness. Maxine leaves a legacy of a loving, giving and sacrificial wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt — always loving and giving of herself to others.

Our family would like to express our many thanks to the staff for the wonderful, loving care our Mother received at Westminster Woods, at Julington Creek and through the compassionate services of Community Hospice and Palliative Care.

Graveside services were held for in Pearson, Georgia on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Sweetwater Cemetery. A memorial service will be determined at a later date for all of us to gather and fellowship to honor and celebrate the life of our wonderful and loving mother.

Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
