Greta Grantham, a kindergarten teacher at Indian Creek Elementary, has received the first-ever Coffee County Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers agriculture mini-grant. She will be using the mini-grant to enhance Indian Creek’s “Kinder-Garden.”

“In today’s tech-crazed society, it is important that students are given the opportunity to learn about agriculture and where our food comes from” said Grantham. By caring for their current garden, students have not only learned about agriculture and plant life cycles but it has taught them responsibility and patience.

The purpose of the mini-grant is to increase agriculture awareness among the youth in Coffee County.  All teachers, grades K-5, employed in Coffee County who want to implement an agriculture project/program into their classroom or expand on an existing project/program are eligible to apply. Applications will be available in September 2021 for the 2021-2022 school year.
