Satilla Riverkeeper Laura Early will be leaving her post as her family relocates to western North Carolina, and the organization begins a search for the next Satilla Riverkeeper and Executive Director of the Satilla RiverWatch Alliance.

“We are grateful for Laura Early’s exemplary contributions during her four-year tenure as the Satilla Riverkeeper,” observed Board Chair Jim Cottingham.  “She has worked tirelessly and effectively to celebrate and protect the beautiful Satilla River.  We are grateful that she will continue to assist the organization during the transition to new leadership.”

During her tenure as the Satilla Riverkeeper, Early has guided the community in voicing concerns for a poorly sited landfill in Brantley County, petitioned for stronger water quality protections, organized many river cleanups, and advocated for state policies that would protect Georgia’s water resources.

“One of the greatest joys of serving as your Satilla Riverkeeper has been getting to know the wonderful people that care about the Satilla River,” Early said. “It is so encouraging to see people coming together across many different interests for a common goal of protecting the Satilla River.”

The Search Committee is chaired by Clay Montague and is currently accepting applications to fill the position of Satilla Riverkeeper and Executive Director. The full job description and information on how to apply is available at www.SatillaRiverkeeper.org/jobs.

The Satilla Riverkeeper is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2004 whose mission is to protect, restore, and educate about the unique and beautiful, blackwater Satilla River.
