A groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new Unison Mental Health Clinic for Adults on West College Park Drive in Douglas took place on the morning of November 3. This new clinic is made possible by a Community Development Block Grant to the City of Douglas with funding support from Coffee Regional Medical Center and Unison Behavioral Health.

Leadership from all three agencies attended the ceremony together with representatives from the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, the Southern Georgia Regional Commission, and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. The clinic will expand access to mental health and addiction treatment services in the Douglas/Coffee County region.

“We have been working together on this project for about three years now, after we collectively saw a need to increase mental health resources in Coffee County,” said Charlie Davis, City Manager for the City of Douglas. Harper Construction is overseeing the building project with an expected completion date in late Spring of 2022.

Unison Behavioral Health provides quality mental health, substance use and developmental disability services for Atkinson, Bacon, Charlton, Clinch, Coffee, Pierce and Ware Counties. For more information, please visit www.unisonbehavioralhealth.com.
