During the monthly school board meeting of the Coffee County Board of Education, Jack Lingenfelter, a junior from Coffee High, was recognized by the Board for his recent selection to serve on the 2021-2022 Student Advisory Council with State School Superintendent Richard Woods.

Jack is one of 66 high school students selected from a pool of 1,000 throughout the state of Georgia, who were selected to meet several times throughout the school year to discuss state policies in the classroom.

“Year after year, my Student Advisory Council is an invaluable resource as I make decisions that impact students across the state,” Superintendent Woods stated. “Getting to know these students and seeking their feedback and perspectives allows all of us at the Georgia Department of Education to make the best possible policy choices.”

During the school board meeting, Jack shared some of the activities he has participated in since serving on the advisory council.  He also thanked his principal, Mr. Van Allen, Ms. Rhonda Dorsey, CTAE Director, who shared the opportunity to apply for the council with him, his parents, his teachers and the school board for giving him this opportunity.

Jack has been an active FFA member since the 7th grade.  He served as an FFA Area Officer for the State of Georgia for two years and served as a National Convention delegate for the state of Georgia this past October.  He has won numerous awards in FFA including 4th in the state for extemporaneous public speaking.  Jack is an active member of Coffee High School’s Student Council, serving as this year’s Corresponding Secretary and the Junior Class Vice-President.  He also serves as one of the Coffee High School Academy Ambassadors.

In the community, Jack is a member of the Coffee County Farm Bureau’s Junior Board and a member of First Baptist Church’s Youth Leadership Team.
