Betty Jean Jackson passed away on December 30, 2021.

Betty Jean was born on March 2, 1946, to the late Willie and Louise Paulk in Irwin County. She attended school in Irwin County. Betty Jean was a faithful member at St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor T.J. Sneed, Pastor Frank Robinson, and Pastor Herbert Coney.

On April 11, 1964, Betty Jean Paulk married William Jackson, and to this union, two children were born. Betty Jean loved cooking and spending time with her family. She sang in the church choir. She was a friendly and loving person who didn’t mind helping others. Betty Jean worked for Campbell Soup Company for over thirty years and Pilgrim’s Pride for more than fifteen years.

Betty Jean has fought the good fight, ran the race, and won the battle. On December 30, 2021, at Memorial Health Hospital, God knelt down and whispered, “Come Home” my child, no more pain, no more sickness. Obediently, she surrendered her soul; she’s no longer dreaming the dream; she now lives the dream with her Heavenly Father.

In addition to her parents, Betty Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Reverend William Jackson; one son: Terry Jackson; two brothers: Clarence Paulk and Willis Paulk; two sisters: Bobbie Jean Paulk and Shirley Foster; four brothers-in-law: Willie Lee Jackson Jr., Archie Thomas, Roosevelt Jackson, and Horace Jackson; a stepmother: Ida Lee Thomas-Paulk; four stepbrothers: Archie Thomas Jr., Wiley Albert Thomas, and David Thomas, and Herbert Thomas; one stepsister: Lillie Mae Ross.

Betty Jean leaves to cherish her precious memories: her son, Gregory Jackson of Douglas, Georgia; six brothers: George (Teresa) Paulk of Wray, Georgia, Daniel B. (Lynn) Paulk of Wray, Georgia, JC (Brenda) Paulk of Statesboro, Georgia, Artis James (Seabie) Paulk of Wray, Georgia, Joseph (Cynthia) Paulk of Tifton, Georgia, William (Deloris) Paulk of Wray, Georgia; one sister, Mattie Paulk of Wray, Georgia; one stepsister, Easter Moffett of Newton, Mississippi; two stepbrothers: Willie Frank Thomas of Ocilla, Georgia; one aunt, Dorothy Armour of Wray, Georgia; seven brothers-in-law: Ezekial (Erma) Jackson, George Jackson, Frank (Vivian) Jackson, Charlie James (Margaret) Jackson, Johnny (Glenda) Jackson, Lee Martin (Darlene) Jackson, and Arthur (Tracy) Jackson; three sisters-in-law: Ida (Jeff) Jackson, Rosa (Charlie) Wilcox, and Viola McDuffie; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and sorrowing friends.

Harrell’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
