Coffee High FBLA brings home medals from regional competition

Coffee High FBLA brought home a multitude of regional awards recently from the Region II competition with nine members advancing to state competition.

FBLA Region II competition was scheduled to be held at Ware County High School on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, but due to COVID-19, the competition took place virtually. The following CHS students placed in their regional events and will be advancing to the state level March 11 to be held at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, GA. Placing 1st in Introduction to Social Media Strategy was Lenira Barlow, Anslee Smith and Gracie Ott. Gracie also placed 2nd in Introduction to Business Communications. Cailey Martinez placed 1st in Impromptu Speaking and 7th in Economics. Jesse Hathway, who attends George Washington Carver Freshman Campus, placed 1st in Introduction to Public Speaking and 9th in Introduction to Financial Math. Ashton Gillespie placed 2nd in Spreadsheet Applications as did Amber Whitley in Client Service. Joanna Rogers placed 5th in Economics and 4th in Personal Finance. Rounding out the list that advanced to state is Kanaan Porter, who placed 7th in Introduction to Information Technology.

Coffee High FBLA also has eight students who received top honors at region competition, but did not qualify for state. Ashton Gillespie placed 1st in Business Ethics as did Amber Whitley in Public Service Announcement. Jaci Jones also placed 2nd in Public Service Announcement and 3rd in Publication Design. Hannah West and Drayton Knight placed 3rd in Publication Design as well. Drayton Knight and Damaris Ortiz placed 5th in Graphic Design with Payton Dickerson and Nina Johnson placing 4th in it. Damaris Ortiz, Pablo Nunez, and Rolando Munoz placed 5th in Website Design. Lastly, Rolando Munoz placed 4th in Introduction to Event Planning. FBLA advisers, Brandy Barlow, Kelly Gilliard, and Kristi Joyner, are very proud of all of their students’ accomplishments so far this school year. These students have been determined to have a very successful year no matter the obstacles!
