On Friday, February 11, Coffee High School was proud to have guest speaker Key’Shun Holmes, a 2017 CHS graduate and creator/owner of the Rich Royal Clothing brand. Several classes from Economics, Personal Financial Literacy, Employability and the Health and Human services pathway are learning about entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship and attended the event.  Economics teacher Chris Papierz introduced Mr. Holmes with the idea that the definition of entrepreneur is very clinical and impersonal and pointed out that we need to think of entrepreneurs as members of our community with faces and personalities, as they are the backbone of our economy.

Mr. Holmes told the story of his clothing line from the idea of the name to the creativity, and growth of his brand including manufacturing and logistics.  He also explained how he had the idea but no knowledge about how to turn his idea into a reality and he learned from many different sources not only in our community but across the state and country including the many things he learned by reading.  Key’Shun Holmes addressed the idea of goals, asking several students what their goals were and stated that students needed to gain knowledge from their teachers and everyone that they could because that information was important to success.  He stressed that students must hold on to their goals and not to let any setbacks or failures deter them from those goals.

Mr. Holmes really did bring a personal touch to the term entrepreneur. Coffee High School thanks him for sharing his time and knowledge with our students to help bring a deeper understanding and meaning to their learning.
