CMS girls’ tennis team wins conference championship

On March 14, 2022 the boys and girls tennis teams traveled to Tifton to compete in the Big 5 Conference Tournament. The Boys team ended their season at 4-2 and were the #2 Seed in the tournament. The girls finished their season undefeated and were the #1 Seed going into the the tournament. Five of the seven players went through the season totally undefeated.

 

 

The boys’ team won their match in Round 1 but lost in a tough 2nd round match that included 3 super tie breaks. Boy’s top 7 players are 1st Singles Phillip Ross, 2 Singles Finn Doherty, 3 Singles Elias Goodwill, 1st Doubles team of Peyton Steed & Chevy Palmer and 2nd Doubles Abraham Hernandez & Aiden Burnham.

 

 

The girls’ team went into the tournament undefeated at 6-0 and remained undefeated breezing through their 2nd round after a bye in the first. They went into the Championship round and dominated to come out on top. Girl’s top 7 players are 1st Singles Lanie Griffin, 2nd singles Emme Cole, 3rd singles Caroline Crawford, 1st Doubles team of Channah Smith & Bailey Palmer, and 2nd doubles Emelia Brown & Joella Carver.

 

 

On Tuesday, March 14, the CMS girls’ tennis team presented the championship trophy to CMS Principal Mrs. Sherry Berry.
