Sylvia W. Kirkland, age 83, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Kirkland was born on November 1, 1938, in Nicholls, GA to the late James Middleton Williams and the late Hallie Clements Williams.

 

 

Sylvia was a force of nature. She loved her family and friends fiercely. Much of her career was dedicated to the care and education of children. Her wisdom and direction will be missed.

 

 

Survivors include: Husband: Billy Kirkland of Douglas, GA, Son: Bill Kirkland of Nicholls, GA, Daughter, Leigh Ann (Ronald) Taylor of Ambrose, GA, Six Grandchildren: Amy Leigh Kirkland (Stephen) Howe, Angela Goodman, Reis Hill, Rian Hill, Ansleigh Hill, Addisyn Taylor, Three Great Grandchildren: Logan Howe, Emery Howe, Asher Goodman, Sister: Ruth Carver of Willacoochee, GA, Several Nieces and Nephews, Two Caregivers: Brianna Walls and Patricia Smith. Mrs. Kirkland was preceded in death by: Great-Grandchild: Blake Howe, Two Sisters: Janice Howell and Annie Lott, Four Brothers: Ray Williams, Linton Williams, Buddy Williams, Robert “Cowboy” Williams and Woodrow Williams, Father: James Middleton Williams and Mother: Hallie Clements Williams.

 

 

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 8:00PM to 9:00PM at Sims Funeral Home.

 

 

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 11:00am at Meeks Cemetery with Ronald Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Meeks Cemetery.

 

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
