Bishop Robert Daniel Crosby, age 75, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Willson Hospice House following a long illness.

He was a native of Atkinson County and had resided in Sylvester, GA for the past 32 years. He was the son of the late Allen Crosby and Delouise Henderson Crosby.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years to Bonnie J. Crosby: Two Daughters, Renee Quick (husband Tim), Robyn King (husband Jason); One Son, Allen Daniel (Danny) (Miranda) Crosby; Four Granddaughters, Ashley Quick, Brandy Quick, Faith King, Makenna Crosby; Three Grandsons, Andrew Crosby, Alex King, Matthew Crosby; Two Great Granddaughters; Natalie Crosby, Helena Aguilar (due in January 2023), One Great Grandchild (due in April 2023); Three Sisters; Mary Rainwater, Linnie Faye Moore (husband Ricky), Brenda Frost (husband James); Three Brothers; Reverend Hardy Crosby (wife Lona), Allen Dewayne Crosby, Leon Crosby and several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by Two Brothers; Alton (Buddy) Crosby, James William Crosby; One Sister; Lurainie Delk; Father and Mother-in-Law; James Griffin, Effie Griffin.

He loved his family, the Lord, and coon hunting. He served his country in the US Army and received an honorable discharge. He was a bishop in the Church of God, an ordained minister in the Church of God of Prophecy, and a member of Landmark Church of God. He accepted salvation at 21 years old and is remembered by his family studying the Bible and praying at a bended pine tree on the edge of the Satilla River on the old Crosby farm. His zeal for the Lord influenced his younger siblings. He was dedicated to preaching the gospel and reaching lost souls for 54 years.  He pastored the Douglas Church of God of Prophecy, Moultrie Church of God of Prophecy, Carrollton Church of God of Prophecy, Fitzgerald Church of God of Prophecy, Poulan Church of God of Prophecy, Praise Christian Center, and Rosedale Church of God. He owned and operated The Mission in Sylvester, GA that served the community and impoverished communities overseas.  This resulted in being honored as Hometown Hero for Sylvester, GA for Humanitarian work.

He had a great passion for hounds and the sport of raccoon hunting.  He competed and won the Georgia state PCA hunt in the early 80’s with his prized hound Satilla River Beaver and the world hunt in Rome, GA with Satilla River Jill. He loved hunting but most of all he loved the hounds and the people.  He would share Christ with anyone who would give him the opportunity.  He carried quite a few young hunters on his shoulders while training them how to hunt and teaching them about life.  He will be remembered by many as a coon hunter mentor. He loved to research his family genealogy even to the point of tracing his heritage to and becoming a member of the Robert the Bruce Family Clan (Clan Bruce) in Scotland.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at Sims Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 4:00PM at Cornerstone Church with Rev. Dannie Hix, Rev. Matthew McEachern and Rev. Hardy Crosby officiating.
