Sherry Lundy, 50, of Douglas, has been charged with animal cruelty after deputies allegedly discovered two malnourished dogs living in cages full of feces.

According to an incident report, deputies responded to Lundy’s home on Tyson Road after getting a report that there were dogs in poor health on the property. When deputies arrived, they found the dogs in two tiny homemade pens. The pens were full of feces and the deputies reported that they could smell the cages from pretty far away.

The report states that Lundy confirmed that the dogs belonged to her. The dogs, bulldog mixes, appeared malnourished. Lundy did report feeding the dogs twice a day. However, she said she believed one of the dogs was grieving because its other owner was in jail in Texas.

The deputies contacted an Animal Control officer, who took the dogs to a local vet. The deputies charged Lundy with one count of animal cruelty. She was transported to the Coffee County Jail and released a short time later.
