Speed kills. And it looks like Coffee Middle School’s Kellah Smith is going to be lethal.

Smith attended the Georgia Middle School Championships at Parkview High School in Lilburn on April 21 and 22, 2023 and turned in one of the fastest times in both the nation and state for a 6th grader in the 3200 meters.

There were over one hundred schools and track clubs across the state of Georgia. Smith competed in the 1600 meter run and the 3200 meter run. She completed the 1600 meter run in 6:03.88 and finished 34th out of 106 participating athletes.

She finished 11th out of 71 in the 3200 meters with a new personal record of 12:38.68, which currently is 5th fastest time for a 6th grader in the state  and the 9th fastest time in the U.S., according to MileSplit.
