Mr. Jerry Thigpen, age 69 years old of Pearson, Ga., passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at his home, following an extended illness.  

 

 

 

He was born in Nicholls, Ga., on July 22, 1953, son of Lawrence Thigpen and Mary Evelyn Ro.  Mr. Thigpen made his home in Pearson where he worked as a truck driver for many years and was a beekeeper.  He enjoyed the simple things in life like being outdoors fishing, tending to his garden and working with bees, but he especially loved spending time with his most treasured blessing, his family.  Mr. Thigpen attended New Bethel Church and was preceded in death, along with his parents, by his wife, Brenda Ann Chaney Thigpen, and sister, JoAnne Carter.  

 

 

Survivors include:

 

 

Son:  Jesse Thigpen and wife, Sharona of Douglas, Ga.

 

 

2 Daughters:  Mary Rosetta Minter of Broxton, Ga.

Sharon Rebecca Snipes of Pearson, Ga.

 

 

Brother:  Jimmy Thigpen of Waycross, Ga.

 

 

9 Grandchildren:  Brianna Bowen and husband, David

Larry Thigpen

Emily Thigpen and Ryan Fields

Jayden Thigpen

Darwin Royals

Drego Royals and wife, Tiffany

Aaron Thigpen

Austin Snipes

Jerry Snipes

5 Great Grandchildren:  Madalyn Bowen

Braelyn Bowen

Everlyn Bowen

Kayden Bowen

LyLyth Tiffany Royals

 

 

Several nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with several other relatives also survive.

 

 

Funeral services for Mr. Thigpen were held Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at New Bethel Church with Rev. J.A. Anderson officiating. Special musical selections included “Amazing Grace”, “Peace in the Valley”, and “Beulah Land” all rendered by cd.  The interment followed in New Bethel Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Aaron Dekota Thigpen, Austin Snipes, Jerry Snipes, Drego Royals, Larry Thigpen, and Jayden Thigpen.  

 

 

Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
