According to multiple media outlets, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has reached a settlement with an employee of Kelley Fleet, Inc., after he allegedly struck the man with an open palm on June 18, 2023, at a Miami marina.
Despite the settlement, the Miami Herald is reporting that the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office is still investigating the incident. Other media outlets have also reported that the NFL has not released a statement regarding its inquiry into the incident, either. Hill could face disciplinary action from the NFL under the league’s Personal Conduct Policy.
Hill and a group of friends were at the marina on June 18 and began fishing from a boat docked there, according to the Miami Herald. The argument with the victim began when he told Hill and his friends fishing wasn’t allowed at the marina. The Herald reported that Hill may have been told that he could fish from the marina by the captain of another boat.
The two men began arguing and Hill allegedly struck the man on the back of the neck with his open palm. The victim did not call police and decided to report the incident on June 19.
Video footage of the incident exists, which the NFL has requested. While neither the state attorney’s office nor the NFL have attempted to sanction Hill, the fact that Hill and the victim have reached a settlement could hinder either agency’s attempts to do so.
At the moment, Hill is getting ready for the opening of the Dolphins’ training camp, which begins July 30. Last week, Hill stated that he planned to surpass 2,000 receiving yards for the upcoming season. He also said that this was the year that Miami would bring home a Super Bowl title.
