Brittany Hughes, a Licensed Practical Nurse at CRMC, has received the DAISY Award for the second quarter of the year. She was recognized on September 6, 2023, in a ceremony held at CRMC. Brittany was nominated by two different patients. One of her nominations stated, “I could not have gotten a better nurse to help care for me and my needs. She was so respectful and eager to do what she could to help me feel better and answer any questions that I had. It’s so good to have a nurse come in with a smile on her face and with a cheerful attitude. I had just gotten a pacemaker and had some concerns about the monitor beeping. She followed up and got the answers. Thank you!”

Coffee Regional Medical Center (CRMC) recognizes extraordinary nurses throughout the year by awarding the DAISY Award. Patients, family members and fellow caregivers can nominate nurses for going above and beyond in their care for patients.  On a quarterly basis each nominee is recognized, and one winner is selected.

Coffee Regional Medical Center would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Brittany and all the nominees for the second quarter of 2023. We are grateful to have such an incredible team of caregivers dedicated to caring for our patients. We thank them for all they do daily to care for our patients (and each other) while staying true to Our Purpose; To Serve, To Heal, To Save.

Created in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, the DAISY Foundation honors nurses internationally. Mr. Barnes’s family was positively impacted by the nurses who skillfully and compassionately cared for Patrick during his eight-week hospitalization for a critical illness.

Unfortunately, Mr. Barnes did not survive his illness; however, the nursing care he received when hospitalized profoundly touched his family. The Barnes family wanted a way to honor Patrick and chose to recognize nurses everywhere for their dedication. The DAISY Foundation has been utilized by over 4,500 healthcare facilities and nursing schools in the U.S. and worldwide.

Anyone may nominate nurses, including those outside the organization – patients, family members, and those inside the organization: other nurses, physicians, and other clinicians and staff – anyone who experiences or observes extraordinary and compassionate care.

To nominate a CRMC nurse for the DAISY Award, visit us online at www.CoffeeRegional.org/DAISY. To find out more about the DAISY Foundation, please visit www.DaisyFoundation.org.
