On January 3, 2024, two drug officers saw a pair of men loading a riding lawn mower into the trunk of Toyota Camry in a wooded area on the 206 Connector. The officers stopped and talked to them and, as a result, both men ended up in jail on illegal drug charges.

According to a report from the sheriff’s office, about 3 p.m. on January 3, the two officers noticed Julian Keith Roberson, 54, and Jeremy Noyes, 44, both of Douglas, putting the lawn mower in the trunk of the car. While the officers were talking to them, the report states that a bag of suspected methamphetamine fell out of Roberson’s pocket. Roberson stated the bag wasn’t his but belonged to Noyes, the report stated.

The officers field tested the substance, which came back positive for methamphetamine. The suspected methamphetamine weighed 0.4 grams, according to the report.

Both Roberson and Noyes were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. Both were jailed. Roberson was later released but Noyes remains in the Coffee County Jail.

On Sunday, January 14, 2024, officers from the Douglas Police Department arrested Roberson on theft by shoplifting charges. As of Monday, January 15, he was still in jail.
