District 4 county commissioner Johnny Wayne Jowers has announced his intention to seek re-election this year for a fourth term. He released the following statement Wednesday afternoon:
“Representing and serving the citizens of Coffee County is one of my greatest passions, and I would like to thank you for allowing me to serve you throughout the years.
“Today, I officially announce my intention to seek re-election as your District 4 Coffee County Commissioner. My goal when elected twelve years ago was to improve the future and quality of life for our children and grandchildren.
“As we move forward, this will continue to be my purpose. I am currently the County Commission Vice Chairman and have served on the board of the Southeast Georgia Regional Commission, the Coffee County Health Department Board, the Coffee Regional Medical Center Board, and the Board of Directors of the Hope Center. I’m a native of Coffee County and married to the former Shanda Purvis. I’m also a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, where I serve as a deacon.
“As many may know, I retired as Battalion Chief of the Douglas Fire Department following thirty-four years of service, but my service to the community has gone far beyond public safety. I began my public service in 1974 at the age of 20, when I was elected Justice of the Peace. In 1990, I was elected as the District 3 Coffee County Commissioner and served as Chairman and Vice-Chairman during that time. In 2012, I was elected as your District 4 Coffee County Commissioner and continue to serve in that capacity today.
“This wide range of public service and 50 years of experience has given me a proven record of effective, servant leadership. It has been one of my greatest honors to serve you, the citizens of Coffee County, throughout my life.
“I pledge to you to continue to do my very best. I humbly ask for your vote and support for the Coffee County Commissioner of District 4 on May 21, 2024. I can be reached at 389-7705(cell), 384-9514 (home), johnnywaynejowers@gmail.com, or Facebook @jwjforccd4. Please feel free to call or contact me at any time.
“Remember, I am committed to my family and yours to make the quality of life in Coffee County the very best it can be. I sincerely thank you, and may God bless you.”
