Mrs. Barbara Jean Deese Vickers, age 88 of Willacoochee, Georgia, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 6, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family and friends.

Mrs. Vickers was born Sunday, November 3, 1935 in Sarasota, Florida to the late Ammie W. Deese and the late Minnie E. Whitehead Deese. She made a career as a secretary for the Coffee County Board of Education where she retired. Mrs. Vickers was an active member of Westside Holiness Church. Along with her parents, Mrs. Vickers was preceeded in death by her husband, Henry Floyd “Buddy” Vickers; son, Allen W. Vickers; and a brother, Alvin “Bubba” Deese.

Mrs. Vickers is survived by two sons: Floyd Vickers (Gloria) of Jacksonville, Florida and Kenneth Vickers (Glenda) of Mora, Georgia; one daughter, Patricia McGovern (Randy) of Pearson, Georgia; 1 daughter-in-law, Lynne Vickers of Mora, Georgia; two sisters: Irene Pinder of Ft. Myers, Florida and Marie Grantham of Mora, Georgia; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, neices and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Gentry officiating. Burial will follow in Arna Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, January 7, 2024 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Ricketson Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be: Justin McGovern, Jason McGovern, David Vickers, Lee Vickers, Patrick Vickers, and Waylon Vickers.

Condolences may be left for the family at www.ricketsonfuneralhome.com.
