Coffee Regional Medical Center is proud to recognize the outstanding fundraising efforts of Cowen Rice, a 7th grade student at Coffee Middle School, who has raised over $3,000 for the Coffee Regional Cardiac Rehabilitation Scholarship Fund through the 2024 annual Heart 2 Heart Run and Wear Red events. Despite being just 13 years old, Cowen has been a dedicated supporter of Coffee Regional Medical Center’s cardiac rehabilitation program for the past three years. Born with an atrial septal defect (ASD), Cowen underwent a life-changing procedure eight years ago, sparking his passion for heart health advocacy.

Cowen’s commitment to giving back to the community and supporting others facing similar challenges is truly remarkable. He not only participated in the 1.5-mile fun run at this year’s event but also set an ambitious goal to raise $1,500. To everyone’s amazement, Cowen more than doubled his target, raising an impressive $3,008. Cowen’s fundraising efforts included selling t-shirts, race entries, paper hearts, and securing sponsorships for the Heart 2 Heart race. His dedication and enthusiasm have made a significant impact on the lives of patients in need of cardiac rehabilitation.

Coffee Regional Medical Center extends its heartfelt gratitude to Cowen and his family for their extraordinary contributions to the community. Their generosity and support will help ensure that individuals receiving cardiac rehabilitation scholarships have access to the continued care they need to lead healthier lives.
