Mrs. Judy Ann Shrouder, age 70, of Ambrose, Georgia passed away Tuesday evening, March 5, 2024 at Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida following a brief illness.

Judy was born June 28, 1953 in Alachua County, Florida to the late Clinton Purvis and the late Jewel Taylor Bradley. She later married the love of her life, Jerrell Shrouder. Judy devoted herself to a 21 year career as a cake decorator with Holts Bakery where she decorated cakes for hundreds of birthdays, weddings, showers and assorted parties. After a brief retirement she returned to work as manager of the bakery at Walmart Supercenter, and later transferred to the Walmart Pharmacy. Judy was devoted to her family and loved spending time with all of them, but specially her grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and spending time at the beach as often as possible. Judy loved a good romance novel and spent many hours of her leisure time reading. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Ann Purvis and a special niece, Beth Corbitt.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Jerrell Shrouder of Ambrose, Georgia; 2 children: Stacy (Tracy) Batten of Pearson, Georgia and Mandy (Rex) Harper of Ambrose, Georgia; 4 siblings: Nadine Corbitt of Douglas, Georgia, James (Sheila) Purvis of Douglas, Georgia, Ronnie (Kathy) Purvis of Fort White, Florida, Alan (Barbara)Purvis of Douglas, Georgia; 5 Grandchildren: Andrew Batten, Tyler (Chasity) Batten, Gavin Harper, Keegan Harper and Evan Harper. Several nieces, nephews, and extended family members also survive.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, March 7, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Ricketson Funeral Home.

The graveside funeral service will be held Friday morning, March 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Purvis Cemetery, near Ambrose, with Rev. Clyde Purvis officiating.

Active Pallbearers will be Bobby Taylor, Sherman Taylor, Gavin Harper, Keegan Harper, Evan Harper, Tyler Batten and Andrew Batten.

Condolences may be left for the family at www.ricketsonfuneralhome.com.

Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
