DPD investigates brazen afternoon shooting on West Ward Street

On Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at approximately 5:06 p.m., Kendre Gibson Jr., of Douglas, was shot multiple times at 921 West Ward Street.

Officers from the Douglas Police Department responded to the scene. Upon arrival, officers located multiple bystanders outside the business attempting to aid Gibson. He was transported away from the scene and was flown via Air-Evac to a nearby trauma center. 

Camera surveillance has been obtained and investigators are working to identify the numerous individuals seen around the victim before the shooting. At this time, the shooter remains at large
