Annielanet Dover, 37, remains at the Coffee County Jail after she allegedly fled a traffic stop and lost most of her clothes during her attempted escape. She was found hiding behind an old mattress nearly nude; she lost her clothing climbing a fence as she fled.
According to an incident report from the Douglas Police Department, a DPD officer attempted to stop a blue 2004 Honda Civic for allegedly running a stop sign around 1:20 a.m. on June 7, 2024. The report says
that the officer noticed the Civic fail to stop at the stop sign at Mitchell Street and McDonald Road. The officer turned around to stop the Civic but the car “took off at a high rate of speed.” The vehicle came to a stop at Mark Hannah Street and Shiloh Street. The officer saw someone in a gray hoodie running towards McDonald Road and jumping fences. The officer gave chase but soon came back to the car. There,
she noticed a female’s slippers on the ground and a phone in the floor of the car. The phone’s screensaver was up and there was a picture of a male on the phone. There was also a wallet belonging to a female in the car.
The officer called for assistance and went back to the area where the individual in the hoodie was last seen. The officer found a pink dress and a cheetah print bonnet stuck to a fence behind an abandoned house
on South McDonald Road. She began looking around the property and went under the carport where she saw a mattress leaning against a wall, the report says. She pulled up the mattress and saw, as the report says, a half-naked woman laying down under the mattress. The individual, who was in just her underwear “with her breasts hanging out from her bra” was identified as Dover.
The officer placed Dover under arrest and found that she had several active warrants through the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office. She was taken to jail where she was served with the warrants and incarcerated. Dover was charged with willful obstruction of law enforcement officers, refund fraud, theft by shoplifting, and a probation violation. She is still in the Coffee County Jail.
