A 27-year-old Fitzgerald man was arrested and charged with enticing a child when he was caught allegedly trying to meet up with a 15-year-old juvenile in order to have sex with her, according to a report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.
The report states that on July 27, 2024, a deputy responded to a mobile home park in Nicholls in reference to a suspicious person. When the deputy arrived, he noticed a man matching the description of the suspect get into a vehicle and attempt to leave. The report says the deputy blocked the suspect’s vehicle so he couldn’t leave. The individual was identified as Mikal Benned’re Walker, 27, of Fitzgerald.
According to the report, Walker stated that he was looking for his uncle’s house. He had received a call that his uncle was having a heart attack and he was coming to check on him. He said he couldn’t remember his uncle’s first name but his last name was Wright and he had been knocking on a door looking for his uncle. Neighbors said that no one named Wright lived at the park, the report says.
The deputy then spoke to two people who said Walker had been knocking on their door and windows, according to the report. A 15-year-old female juvenile lived at the residence with the couple; they had been named caretakers of the juvenile until a case with DFACS could be resolved. The deputy then spoke with the juvenile who said “there was a plan for her and Mikal to meet up to hang out and have sex,” the report says. She had met him a few months ago but they had stopped talking. Then, the report says, Walker had sent her a message the previous day asking her to meet. The investigating officer found that Walker had two condoms and a phone in his possession, all of which were seized as evidence, according to the report.
As a result of the investigation, Walker was arrested and charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes. He was jailed and later released.
