According to a report from the Coffee Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Campbell, 43, of Douglas, interrupted an evening church service on August 11, 2024, after allegedly hitting a woman in the head with a brick. The victim was found nearby with a large gash in her head.

The original call came in that a woman had a large cut in her head on Highway 221 North. When a deputy arrived, people who were at a church near the scene flagged him down. They said that while they were having church, an individual identified as Campbell had entered the church “bloody and almost naked,” the report says. They were able to calm him down and had him sit on a pew. The deputy went inside the church and saw Campbell sitting on a pew “with a significant amount of blood on him,” the report states.

EMS was at the scene treating the victim. The report says that Campbell appeared under the influence and couldn’t recall what happened. When asked, the report says that Campbell replied, “I don’t know, sir. I’m f&$%ed up.”

The victim had a large gash on the side of her forehead. She said that she was asleep outside in a chair when suddenly, someone was hitting her. She added that someone named Brandon hit her with a brick, the report states. The victim was transported to CRMC for treatment.

In the report, a witness added that the victim had been sleeping for several hours outside in a chair when Campbell walked up and threw a brick at her.

Campbell was arrested and charged with aggravated battery. He remains in the Coffee County Jail.

The day before, on August 10, 2024, Campbell had been arrested and charged with criminal trespass and released.
