Tyrese Woodgett scored three touchdowns, Jayden Hancock caught a touchdown pass, and Jonah Saylor kicked a field goal in the Coffee Trojans’ 31-7 win over the Jackson County Panthers Friday night in Hoschton in the first round of the state playoffs.

Woodgett scored his touchdowns on the first, second, and fourth drives of the game. Saylor’s 26-yard field goal came with just 43 seconds left in the second quarter. The Trojans’ final score of the game came with 3:33 left in the fourth quarter when quarterback Bray Coe found Hancock in the end zone.

The Panthers’ lone touchdown happened early in the second quarter. Quarterback RJ Knapp III hit Maddox Griswold for a two-yard touchdown that made the score 14-7. It’s as close as Jackson County would get.

The win brings the Trojans’ record to 9-2 overall for the season. Coffee will travel to Brunswick next week for a second-round match-up against the Pirates, who defeated Villa Rica 43-13.
