A 30-year-old Broxton woman was arrested on animal cruelty charges after authorities received a report of dogs left inside a home without food or water.
According to an incident report from the sheriff’s office, on February 7, 2025, an officer responded to a North Ridge Drive address where three dogs had been left inside the house. The report says that the ribs of two of the dogs were visible and there was no food or water for the dogs. The officer learned that the resident of the home was Sarah Davis, 30. He contacted Davis who, according to the report, said the dogs were inside the home because a neighbor had threatened to shoot them.
According to the report, Davis was not at home at the time and said she didn’t have a way back to the house. The deputy went to her location and brought her back to the house. When they arrived, an animal control officer was there. Davis stated that the dogs had been in the house for two weeks and she hadn’t been back to check on them. She agreed to surrender the dogs to animal control. When the animal control officer took the dogs outside, they immediately went to a pot of water that was on the back porch.
After the dogs were taken outside, the officer went back in the house. The report says there were clothes and trash all over the home as well as piles of dog feces. There was also a gecko in the house that didn’t have any water, either, according to the report. Animal control took the gecko as well.
Davis was arrested and charged with three counts of animal cruelty. She was transported to the Coffee County Jail where she was later released.
