Coffee County has a couple of new state champions as well as one of the fittest women in the world in her age group. This past weekend Ashleigh Hulett, Katy Lott, and Bree McKinnon competed in WSO Georgia Weightlifting Championships in Atlanta at the Georgia International Convention Center. Katie Roberts, representing MaxOut CrossFit in Douglas, wrapped up the CrossFit Games season with an elite-level showing in the W40-44 age group.
Katy Lott won gold in snatch, clean and jerk, and total in the W50 71kg division. Katy Lott also set a new state clean and jerk record of 61kg in the W50 71kg division.
Bree McKinnon won gold in snatch, clean and jerk, and total in the W35 76kg division. Bree McKinnon also set a new state clean and jerk record of 71kg in the W35 76kg division.
Ashleigh Hulett placed 2nd in snatch, clean and jerk, and in total for the Women’s Open 87kg division.
They were coached by chiropractor and Coffee County native Dr. Case Merritt. Dr. Merritt practices at Atlanta Spine and Wellness. Katy Lott and Ashleigh Hulett are also coaches for Coffee Weightlifting.
Katie Roberts had advanced to the next round of the CrossFit games season, the CrossFit Semifinals. Only the top 98 percent in the world in her age group advance to this round. After a weekend of very challenging workouts, she ended the CrossFit games season being the 117th fittest woman in the world in the 40-44 division.
