The CCA Patriots went 3-0 last week, outscoring their opponents 43-15 in the process. CCA is now 8-3-1 on the season and playing very well with less than a month remaining in the season.

Last Wednesday, the Patriots defeated the First Preparatory Christian Academy Highlanders 17-3 in Hinesville. Skyler Woods hit his second home run of the year on the way to a 2-4, three RBI, four runs scored day. Blake Bryant and Gavin McLean also had three hits each. McLean started for the Patriots and gave up two runs (none of which were earned) on one hit. He also struck out three. Sam Ables and Tyson Crosby pitched an inning each as well.

Thursday’s game against Terrell Academy was a little different. CCA won a slugfest 15-11 at Terrell. Bryant led the way offensively, going 4-4 with two RBI and three runs scored. Jonathan Rutland and McLean had three hits. Woods and Landon Williams had two hits each. Woods and Bryant also homered in the game. The Patriots’ third pitcher of the day, Jett Hart, earned the win with a perfect inning of work. Bryant came in and threw two innings to close things out and pick up the save.

The Patriots returned home for a Friday tilt against Brookwood. CCA won 11-1 in four and half innings. The Patriots homered in the third straight game, this time courtesy of McLean, who went 2-2 with three RBI and three runs scored. He also tripled. Thomas Gentry, who also had two hits and three RBI, went five innings and gave up one earned run on three hits with 12 strikeouts to zero walks.

CCA’s next four games are in St. Petersburg, Fla. The Patriots will play two on Thursday and two more on Friday. They return to action at home on Monday, April 14, with a rematch against Terrell.
