On the evening of April 12, 2025, deputies responded to a residence near Jackson Lane regarding a disturbance involving an individual reportedly beating on a door while wearing a mask and holding what was believed to be a weapon.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with multiple individuals at the scene, including the subject of the call, 36-year-old William Baskin of Valdosta. A preliminary investigation revealed that Baskin had arrived at the residence seeking money. During the encounter, Baskin initially refused to cooperate with deputies and attempted to leave the scene but eventually complied.

Deputies confirmed that the homeowner no longer wished for Baskin to return to the property. As a result, Baskin was issued a criminal trespass warning. During the course of the investigation, officers determined that Baskin had an outstanding warrant through Lowndes County. After being served the trespass warning, authorities received notification that Lowndes County intended to place a hold on Baskin. When deputies attempted to take him into custody, Baskin resisted and attempted to flee. He was apprehended after a brief struggle.

William Baskin was transported to the Coffee County Jail where he was booked on the outstanding warrant and additionally charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer. He remains in custody at this time.
