A Douglas man remains in jail on charges of false imprisonment, theft by taking, and battery – family violence (first offense) after allegedly beating a female victim all night and taking $130 from her.

According to an incident report from the sheriff’s office, an individual dropped the victim and Trevor Maine McKinnon, 35, off at McKinnon’s home on McKinnon Road on April 3, 2025. The victim and McKinnon used to be in a relationship with each other but, as the report states, “are good friends now.” While the victim was at McKinnon’s house, the report says that “things got physical.”

According to the report, McKinnon beat the victim all night and took her phone so she couldn’t call 911. On April 4, the victim was able to get her phone and call her mother. She came to the home to get the victim. While she was there, she reported that she saw McKinnon slap the victim in the face. The victim’s mother told McKinnon that she was calling 911. Then, the report says, McKinnon took several items from the victim, including $130 and one of the victim’s phones. The victim reported that during the night, McKinnon had beaten her with his fist.

McKinnon fled the scene and avoided law enforcement for a few days. However, he was booked into the Coffee County Jail on April 7, 2025, where he remains.
