Douglas Fire Department Lieutenant Lee Clements has been involved in some form of public safety since he was 16 years old. Now he has added another accomplishment to his already impressive resume – paramedic. On Thursday, April 24, 2024, Lt. Clements graduated from Wiregrass Georgia Technical College with his paramedic degree.

Lt. Clements’s  journey began early, stepping into the world of public safety at just 16 years old as a lifeguard and water safety instructor. In 1989, he launched his law enforcement career as a dispatcher, eventually becoming a certified peace officer in 1997. Over the years, he has served as a deputy sheriff, chief of police, captain, and school resource officer.

He also became a volunteer fireman then became a full-time firefighter in 1999. Now boasts 26 years of experience and has achieved the rank of lieutenant. Lt. Clements has also spent the last 14 years working as an EMT. He holds a degree in fire science, an emergency medical technician diploma, and he also serves as an adjunct instructor with the state. He is now working toward completing his associate degree. The Douglas Rotary Club also recently named Lt. Clements as Wiregrass Tech’s Student of the Month

“Lt. Clements’s career is a true testament to commitment, passion, and lifelong learning. Congratulations, Lee — we are proud of you and can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!” wrote his colleagues on the Douglas GA Fire Department’s Facebook page.
