A 26-year-old Douglas woman was arrested and charged with aggravated identity fraud after a Missouri resident discovered that her identity had allegedly been stolen.

The victim, a resident of Nixa, Missouri, contacted the Douglas Police Department on April 11, 2025, and reported that an individual who worked at a local industry had stolen her identity, according to a Douglas Police Department report. The investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as Mary Garcia-Vasquez, 26, of Douglas, had allegedly used the victim’s social security number at her place of employment.

During the investigation, officers found out where Garcia-Vasquez lived and, on April 14, 2025, they went to her home. She was at the residence at the time. She was arrested and charged with aggravated identity fraud. Garcia-Vasquez was transported to the Coffee County Jail and later released on bond.
