A Douglas man was arrested and jailed late last month after he allegedly fired a gun at several people on his property during an alleged domestic dispute.
According to a report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, around 8 p.m. on May 23, 2025, Christopher Johnson, 44, allegedly fired multiple shots at a metal storage container when several people where inside the container getting a few tools.
The report states that the victim said that Johnson had been acting odd all day. She left then returned with several other people to get her belongings. There were some tools in the container that she wanted to get. When they arrived at the home, the report says that Johnson came outside yelling and telling them they weren’t getting anything. The victim and a few others went inside the storage container and that’s when Johnson allegedly fired two or three rounds, according to the report, into the container. After he allegedly fired the shots, he stated that he would kill everyone who was there.
The report says that initially, Johnson’s mother said she fired the shots because Johnson is a convicted felon. However, she eventually admitted that Johnson is the one who pulled the trigger, according to the report. Officers told Johnson and the victim that any dispute involving their belongings would have to be settled through the courts.
Deputies asked everyone to leave the property and arrested Johnson. He was charged with reckless conduct, terroristic threats and acts, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was booked into the Coffee County Jail and released on bond.
