On Saturday, June 14, 2025 – Flag Day, the 250th birthday of the United States Army, and President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday – anti-Trump protests dubbed No Kings Nationwide Day of Defiance will take place in thousands of cities across the country.
And Douglas is one of those cities.
According to a No Kings Day press release, protests have been organized to reject Trump’s agenda and what organizers call his authoritarian policies. Protesters plan to stay away from Washington, D.C., where an enormous Flag Day/Army birthday (and Trump birthday) celebration will take place. The flagship No Kings Day protest will take place in Philadelphia.
In Douglas, the protest is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. on South Peterson Avenue in the grass median where Peterson and Madison Avenues split in front of Longhorn Steakhouse. A post made on the local No Kings Day Facebook page states the following: “This isn’t just about politics. It’s about people. It’s about pushing back against hate, greed, and fear. On Trump’s birthday and Flag Day, we’re showing up to reject everything he stands for: fascism, corruption, cruelty, and white supremacy.”
The post added that the protest will be non-violent and family friendly, and it will be non-violent and family-friendly. Organizers also filed for and received proper permits from the City of Douglas.
