A 49-year-old Douglas man was arrested after he allegedly walked away from an auto accident on South Peterson Avenue on June 3, 2025.

According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, the accident happened around 2:40 p.m. near Thomas Flowers. When a DPD officer arrived at the scene, he discovered that the driver of one of the vehicles, Jesse Lee Davis, 49, was not in the vehicle. A passenger stated that Davis left the scene because he had warrants.

The officer looked around and noticed a man that matched Davis’s description walking north on Peterson Avenue. The report states that the officer called out to Davis but Davis ignored him. The officer ran toward Davis and caught up to him about 75 feet away from the scene of the accident.

Davis was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and transported to the Coffee County Jail. He remains incarcerated.
