he Douglas-Coffee County Parks and Recreation Department will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening for Unity Park located at 625 S. Grady Avenue on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 10 AM. City officials, current and former baseball and softball players, as well as community members, are invited to join in the celebration of the newly renovated Unity Park.

Scheduled for the grand opening will be a ribbon cutting at 10 AM, followed by the first pitch being thrown by Mayor Tony Paulk to start youth baseball/softball games. While the games are taking place, citizens are encouraged to enjoy the park and join in with the fitness activities that will be offered in the wellness area.  Free hot dogs and Coca-Cola drinks will be provided while supplies last.

This project was made possible by a generous grant award of $278,000 from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, additional match funding from the City of Douglas, and SPLOST VI funds.

For more information about the upcoming Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting at Unity Park, please contact the Parks and Recreation office at (912) 384-5978.
