A 19-year-old who was arrested last month for allegedly punching a Douglas police officer in the groin and fleeing has been arrested again, this time on family violence charges.

The incident report from the Douglas Police Department states that Deuntra Wesley Esther, 19, was asleep in a family member’s bed on July 12, 2025, at a residence on North Pearl Avenue. Just after 1 a.m., the family member attempted to wake him up, the report says, so she could go to bed. The family member stated that Esther got up and was angry. He got in her face then pushed her out of his way before going into the loving room, the report says.

In the report, Esther said he walked past his family member but never pushed her. Other family members at the scene reported that they had seen Esther push the victim after he woke up.

Esther was arrested and charged with simple battery – family violence and transported to the Coffee County Jail. He was later released.
