On June 21, 2025, personnel at the Coffee County Law Enforcement Center intercepted critical information involving a planned delivery of contraband intended to be smuggled into the Coffee County Jail by a staff member. Thanks to swift coordination and investigative efforts by agents with the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit, the contraband was successfully seized before it could reach secure areas of the facility.
The investigation has led to the arrest of three individuals.
Charlotte Loraine Whitfield, age 52, was employed as a detention officer at the time of the incident. She was taken into custody after retrieving a suspicious package from her personal vehicle in the LEC parking lot. Whitfield now faces charges under OCGA 16-10-1 for Violation of Oath by a Public Officer, as well as charges under OCGA 42-5-18 for Giving Inmates Prohibited Items.
Pamela Shea Pittman, age 50, was identified as the individual who delivered the contraband to the LEC parking lot. She was arrested later that same day at her residence and admitted to transporting the item from Valdosta, Georgia. Pittman also faces charges under OCGA 42-5-18.
Jackie Teresa Jackson, age 65, was involved in transporting Pittman to the LEC to facilitate the delivery. She was arrested the same day and admitted to her involvement. Jackson also faces charges under OCGA 42-5-18 for her role in the offense.
All three individuals were booked into the Coffee County Jail following their arrests.
Sheriff Fred Cole reaffirmed the sheriff’s office’s firm stance on integrity within its ranks. Reminding every new hire, every tenured deputy, and members of the command staff that integrity is not optional, “The oath we take is sacred. Those in violation of their oath, will be caught, charged and prosecuted. No one is above the law,” stated Sheriff Cole.
