Mrs. Judith “Judy” Diane Born Meeks, age 82, of West Green, Georgia, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 3, 2025, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Judy was born October 23, 1942 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late James L. Born and the late Martha Rustin Born. She worked in the school cafeteria, was assistant church librarian and church clerk at Shades Crest Baptist church in Hoover, Alabama for many years. She later became WOM director and a singer at Central Baptist Church. Aside from her church work she found great joy as an artist and homemaker.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Jimmy Meeks of West Green, Georgia; 2 daughters: Marjorie Ricketson and husband, Alvin, of Douglas, Georgia, Lori Morrison and husband, Lee, of Clanton, Alabama; 3 grandchildren: Michael Michard and wife, Tori, of Alabaster, Alabama, SR David Miles Morrison of Great Lakes, Illinois, A J Ricketson and wife, Ruby, of Axson, Georgia; 2 sisters: Carolyn Born Cales of Douglas, Georgia, Linda Born Phillips and husband, Don, of Jasper, Georgia; along with a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Judy’s family will receive friends on Wednesday morning, August 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Central Baptist Church. Her funeral will be held at Central Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Wes Brown officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the Central Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include: Drew Spivey, Michael Michard, SR David Miles Morrison, A J Ricketson, Kyle Meeks, Tim Meeks, John Meeks and Larry McLoon.
In lieu of flowers Judy’s family requests that donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation at 1355 Peachtree Street, Suite 600, Atlanta, Georgia 30309.
