The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office has charged Demaurio Sutton, age 42, of Douglas, in connection with an ongoing theft investigation.

On August 15, 2025, at approximately 10:40 p.m., deputies responded to a report of theft at a property in Coffee County. The property included a residence that had sustained severe damage during Hurricane Helene as well as an adjacent shelter.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that the property had been unlawfully entered and that a game camera mounted inside the shelter had been stolen along with other items. The game camera took photos of the suspect and sent them to the owner’s cell phone.
