Mr. Rufus Archie Wiggins, age 89 of Douglas, GA passed away Sunday Evening, August 24, 2025 at Lakeside Senior Living following an extended illness.
Mr. Wiggins was born January 20, 1936 to the late Charlie Homer Wiggins and the late Latishia Young Wiggins. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Sarah Phillips Wiggins; and 2 brothers: John Willie Wiggins, Harold Wiggins, and a brother-in-law, Talmadge Banks, and a sister-in-law: Maxine Wiggins Stokes
Mr. Wiggins loved the Lord and was a member of St. Illa Baptist Church for more than 45 years. He was also a member of the Coffee County Saddle Club for many years. He found his greatest joy in time spent with his family.
Mr. Wiggins is survived by 2 children: Larry Wiggins and Lynn Wright and husband Michael all of Douglas, Georgia; 4 grandchildren: Brandon Wright of Colorado and Brooke Wright Wiederhold and husband Brendan of Douglas, Georgia, Charlie Wiggins and wife Kaysie of Tifton, Georgia, and Lexie Wiggins Giddens and husband Bryce of Moultrie, Georgia; 8 great-grandchildren: Elijah Wright of Columbus, Georgia, Mikayah Wright of New York City, New York, Myles Wright and Lev Wright both of Colorado, Brinley Wiederhold, Brielle Wiederhold and Brextan Wiederhold all of Douglas, Georgia, Archer Wiggins of Tifton, Georgia; and a sister, Evelyn W. Banks of Douglas, Georgia; along with a number of nieces nephews and extended family members.
Mr. Wiggins’ family will receive friends on Wednesday morning, August 27, 2025 at St. Illa Baptist Church from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. His funeral will be held at 11:00 AM at St. Illa Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Reagin officiating. The interment will follow in Douglas City Cemetery.
