About the time the CCA football team was taking the field 112 miles away in Albany, the CCA Lady Patriots were finishing off the Trinity Christian Academy Crusaders in Dublin. The Lady Patriots won a 16-12 slugfest to improve to 8-3 this season. CCA tallied 17 hits and overcame seven errors to hold off the Crusaders.
The Lady Patriots scored half of their runs in the first inning, scoring eight runs on six hits. Abrah Harris drove in two with a triple, Gracie Giddens drove one on a double, and Mattie Lewis kept things going with an RBI triple. Arabelle Roberts singled in a run while Cadence Cravey plated two on a single of her own. The final run of the inning came on an Emma Gourley single. Following the first inning scoring barrage, the Lady Patriots added three in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth, and one each in the fifth and sixth.
Cravey led the way at the plate with a 4-5 day. She drove in three and scored two. Brilynn Waldron, Gourley, Harris, Lewis, and Roberts each had two hits. Harris drove in four.
Two CCA pitchers took to the circle against Trinity. Giddens went three innings followed by Peighton Harper, who threw four for the win.
The Lady Patriots welcome Pinewood Christian Academy to Douglas on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. game. Earlier this month, the CCA defeated Pinewood in Bellville 9-5 and Pinewood would love nothing more than to even the 2025 series. Though it is a non-region contest, it will have the atmosphere and an intensity of a rivalry game. If you can get to the ballpark on Tuesday, you won’t want to miss this one.
