The City of Douglas has announced the date for trick-or-treating and suggested routes within the city limits. This year, door-to-door trick-or-treating is recommended to take place on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in city neighborhoods. This change is made to ensure that families can enjoy Halloween festivities without conflicting with the home CHS Trojan football game scheduled for October 31, 2025, which is also the traditional Halloween night, along with the Georgia-Florida football weekend.
“This recommendation highlights the expected visitors to Douglas for the home Trojan regional game and the Georgia-Florida game,” says Mayor Tony Paulk. “The Trojans’ second regional game against Thomas County Central is set for 7:30 p.m. at Jardine Stadium on Friday night. With many residents attending the football games instead of trick-or-treating, I encourage everyone to support our teams while ensuring a safe Halloween experience for our community.”
For parents planning to take their children trick or treating within the city limits, the designated hours are between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., or until it gets dark on Thursday, October 30, 2025. The City of Douglas and the Douglas Police Department request that parents ensure their children are not outside after 8:00 p.m. or after dark in city neighborhoods. Homeowners should turn porch lights on and try to illuminate their yard as much as possible. Lights, decorations, and porch lights should be turned off at 8 pm as a way to discourage late trick-or-treating. If not distributing candy, homeowners should turn off their porch lights. Drivers should be extremely cautious and are urged not to impede the flow of traffic on neighborhood streets. Also, motorists are advised not to impede traffic flow by parking vehicles on public streets. The Police Department also asks drivers not to park on the grass and in the yards of homeowners. Motorists may be cited for violations. Halloween participants are asked to show courtesy and respect to neighborhoods.
Many churches and businesses are offering various fall activities. In addition to trick or treating, the City of Douglas encourages parents to consider attending organized events happening in the community on Thursday, October 30, 2025. The VisitDouglasCoffeeCountyGA Facebook page will also have a list of Halloween events taking place.
