On September 17, 2025, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sexual assault. Following an immediate and thorough investigation by the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, investigators determined that a sexual assault had indeed occurred.

The suspect, Jose Carlos Ramirez, a resident of Coffee County, is alleged to have used a firearm to force a 17-year-old victim into a bedroom, where the alleged assault took place.

Ramirez was subsequently arrested and has been charged with rape, aggravated assault, and kidnapping. All are felony charges. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.

Sheriff Fred Cole commented on the case, stating, “As a father, I am devastated that something like this could happen in our county. No one should ever have to endure such trauma. As a father and sheriff, I am proud of the swift and professional response of our team of detectives. Within just a few hours of the report being made, they ensured the victim received the care and treatment she needed and had Ramirez in jail where he belongs.”

The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone who may have been victimized by Ramirez, or by any other sexual predator, to come forward and report it immediately. All reports will be handled with the utmost confidentiality and taken seriously.

To protect the identity and privacy of the minor victim, no further details will be released at this time.
