The Coffee Trojans are on the wrong side of .500 after a 35-14 loss to the Lee County Trojans Friday night at Jardine Stadium. The loss drops Coffee to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in region competition.

Both Lee and Coffee scored on their first possessions. Coffee scored again in the second quarter. KJ Debruce scored both of Coffee’s touchdowns on runs of 64 yards and four yards.

Lee, however, found the end zone four times in the first half and took a 28-14 lead into halftime. Lee scored again in the third quarter to take a 35-14 lead. With about 17 seconds left in the game, Lee scored again when Jordan Bush broke an 80-yard run but a penalty nullified the touchdown.

Coffee has had difficulty scoring in the second half all season long. They haven’t scored more than seven points in the second half of any game this year. Twice – against Mainland and now against Lee –  Coffee has been shut out in the third and fourth quarters.

Coffee is off next week before traveling to Warner Robins to face Houston County. They only have one more home game left, a Halloween night showdown with the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets.
