A 17-year-old was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana (less than one ounce) and possession of a handgun following a traffic stop on  North Peterson Avenue at 12:45 a.m. on September 15, 2025.

According to an incident report from the Douglas Police Department, officers stopped a 2013 Hyundai Elantra after it was seen traveling on North Peterson with no tag lights. During the stop, officers noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, the report says. They searched the Elantra and found suspected marijuana and a handgun. The handgun was in a “black school bag,” according to the report.

The officers questioned two passengers in the vehicle, one of whom was Quandarrius Dixon, 17, of Douglas. The officers asked Dixon to get out of the Elantra. They spoke to him in front of one of the patrol cars. The report says that an officer patted him down and found suspected marijuana in his pockets. Dixon also claimed the gun that was found in the bag, a High Point 9mm that he said he was holding for a friend who lived out of town, according to the report. The gun was not stolen.

During the stop, one of the police officers found another handgun, this one under the patrol car where Dixon had been questioned. Dash cam video from the patrol car showed that Dixon reached into the left side of his pants and pulled out the handgun. He leaned down on the bumper of the car and threw it under the vehicle, the report says. The gun was a Taurus GX4 with a red dot sight.

Dixon was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun by a person under 18 and possession of marijuana – less than one ounce. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail and later released. The driver and other occupants of the vehicle were released without being charged.

Dixon was arrested again on September 29, 2025, and cited for driving without a valid license. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail and later released again.
